Funeral ser\’ices were conducted at the Sunny Grove Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock by Rev. L. G. Redding, as sisted by Rev. C. C. Tomlin and bur ial was in the church cemetery. Funeral services will be conducted at the East Marion Baptist church Thursday morning at 10:30 o’clock and the body will be taken to Pleasant Gap, Yancey county, where a short service will be held and burial will be in the Young cemetery. She is survived by six sons and daughters and two sons, Mrs. A. N. five daughetrs. PARKER Final rites for Mrs. Lonnie Smith Parker, 62, who died at her home near Old Fort last Tuesday morning, were conducted from the Bethlehem Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Officiating was Rev. Robert Hughes, pastor of the church. Interment was in the church burying grounds. Mrs. Parker had been an active member of the Bethlehem church for a number of years. Surviving are her husband, A. W. Parker; three daughters, Mrs. T. B. Faw of Old Fort, Mrs. R. V. Davis of Spruce Pine, and Mrs. Earnest Walker of Franklin; one son, Luther Parker, of Old Fort; one sister, Mrs. J. M. Kanipe of Old Fort; one broth? er, Henry Smith of Marion; and fout grandchildren. MORGANTON MEETING ATTENDED BY CARTIER Walter J. Cartier, secretary of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, at tended an annual civic banquet given in Morganton last Tuesday night by the Morganton Chamber of Com merce and Merchants Association. Guest speaker at the banquet was Dean R. B. House, of the University of North Carolina. Approximately 200 people atten ded the meeting. Representatives of the Morganton Kiwanis, Liotis, and Pilot clubs were present as well as leaders in civic activity in Morgan ton and Burke county.
