The principal business transac- , ted was the election of 16 regular I directors and four directors-at-large IThe new board of directors met in the afternoon at the Federation’s central office and reelected James G. ; K. McClure of Fairview, president; R. C. Crowell of Candler, vice-pres- ident; and O. J. Holler of Union Mills, secretary and treasurer. The directors also reelected an executive committee consisting of Mr. Mc Clure, Mr. Crowell, Mr. Holler, L. L. Burmin of Horse Shoe; H. A. Cog gins of Swannanoa; H. Arthur Os borne of Canton, and C. C. Cook, of ! Asheville, R.F.D. No. 4 I Net earnings of slightly more than $17,000 for 1939 were reported by Guy M. Scales, general manager of the Federation. This earning enab led th§ Federation to pay the regu lar three percent semi-annual divi dend on both common and preferred stock, and a three percent dividend payable in credit toward the purch ase of additional shares, it was ev- plained. The sales volume for the year was placed at $1,077,000 as compared with $966,671 for the pre vious year, and total assets were listed at $520,000 and net worth at ; $218,906.21. WEST MARION NEWS ! KANIPE DIES AT HOME AT WEST MARION j Mrs. Mary Emma Kanipe. 69,died , suddenly of a heart attack at her ! residence in West Marion on Sunday , evening. M. on Sat-| urday.
