Fowls that aro overfed are not healthy. Fowls need a good dust bath as much as they do grit. Bran and buttermilk mako a good ra tion for laying hens. Plan to hatch as many chickens as pos sible as early as possible. With tho oxeeption of geese, old fowls of any kind aro unprofitable. If you breod your fowls to short legs, you will gain on the body. Fowls that havo a good variety of food rarely need artificial stimulants. Too close inbreeding is ono cause of barren eggs and weakly chickens. Poultry of all kinds will fatten suffi ciently with three weeks' feeding. Turkey hens aro unprofitable after they are 3 years old. Sell or eat them. The loss of feathers often proceeds from "Rust" the dread of the cotton grower, can be prevented.
