THE PINEHURST OUTLOOK. 3 DONALD ROSS IS WINNER! Easy Victor In Match With Bernard Nicholls and Alec Ross. Two llnttling- Hound Witb a Seventy One untl a Total Score of One Hundred and JF ortyEig'lit. A thirty-six hole medal play, three ball match between Professionals Donald J, and Alec Ross and IJernard Nicholls for The Carolina purse, was a special golf feature last Friday that attracted a big gallery in which golfers were promi nent. Donald Ross won easily with a total score of one hundred and forty-eight, rounds of seventy-seven and seventy one, twelve strokes ahead of Nicholls who was second with one hundred and sixty, eighty-three and seventy-seven. Alec 1'oss was two strokes farther off in one hundred and sixty-two. D. Ross was in splendid form and both of his round were rattling ones, the afternoon card equalling the new course record established by him lust week. The testimonial concert at the Village Hall Friday evening, for The Carolina and Holly Inn orchestras, was well at tended and a program of unusual musi cal and artistic interest was given. In connection with the orchestral concert there were solos for the piccolo and 'cello by Mr. Frank Petit and Mrs. Elsa von Grofe of The Carolina orchestra, songs by Mrs. W. S. Wilder, Jr., of Boston, and Miss Maude Reber of Cleve land, O., and several beautiful tableaux, arranged by Mrs. Montgomery A.Crock ett of Buffalo, N. Y., in which Mi s. Charles Russell of Albany, N. Y, Miss Stackpole of Ridgewav, Pa., and Mrs. Thomas J. King of Boston, took part.
