located here for the season. Mrs. Car
merais is an old admirer of Pinehurst.
Mr. and Mrs. James Montgomery and
son. are here for a short stay.

Members of St. Augustine's (colored)
School, llaleigh, entertained a large
audience at the Village Hall Wednesday
evening, with a program of dialect reci
tations, negro songs and plantation
melodies. During tlie evening a collec
tion was taken for the benefit of the
school.

the mens prize and M r, J. II. Wilson of
Montreal, Canada, the consolation ; Miss
M. E. Waterbury of Oriskany, N. Y.,
and Miss Ella A. Upson of Bristol,
Conn., took the womens trophies.

Many of Pinehurst's guests will attend
the sale to be given by the ladies of Em
manuel Church at Southern Pines, next
Thursday. Dolls, fandy articles etc.,
will be on sale.
A novel feature will be a Japanese tea
table where one of Vantine's Japanese
cups and saucers will be given to every
purchaser of a cup of tea.
