Warfield and Miss Helen Warfield, of Brooklyn, are here to remain until Christinas time, joining Col. and Mrs. Ashby. Mr. and Mrs. George Wronn, of Chicago, are here for a long- sojourn and return visit. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wells, child and nurse, of Burlington, Vt., will remain some months. Mr. and Mrs. W. II. Tool, of Chicago, come for an indefinite stay. Dr. George S. Hill, of Marblehead, Mass., the Bosident House Physician, is here for the season and will be joined about Christmas time, by Mrs. Hill. Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Beed, of Newark, were guests dining the week. Mr. J. T. Johnston and Mr. J. V. Hall, of Pittsburg, Pa., come to remain some weeks. Mr. Hall is an enthusiastic sports man and is much pleased with Pinehurst. Mr. W. W. Ashe, of Baleigh, was a visitor during the week. Mr. L. B. Bolton, of Boston, spent a few days on business here, late in the week. C. H. The prize winners were Mrs. B. B. Glenny, of Sheffield, Mass., who took the women's first prize, a beau tifully decorated china bureau waste box. Miss M.M.Wilbur, of Canandaigua,N.Y, Miss Lela Elliott, of Waterville, N. II., and Mrs. Edward Wells, of Burlington, Vt., tied for the second prize, a sterling cold cream jar; Miss Elliott winning the cut. The first mens prize a very dainty wedgewood ash tray, was won by Mr. E. G. Warfield, of Brooklyn, and the second, a sterling letter opener, by Mr. A. I. Creamer. The participants included Dr. and Mrs. Crockett, Mr. and Mrs. Babson, Mr. and Mrs. Hansel, Col. and Mrs. Ashby, Mr. and Mrs. Warfield, Mrs. Glenny, Mrs. Abbott, Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Wells, Miss Cary, Miss Elliott, Miss Wilbur, Miss Macfarlane, Mr. Applebaum, Mr. Warren, Mr. Hall, Mr. Blackman, Mr. Creamer. Line, and Mr. II. M. Cowden, of Ports, mouth, representing the same road, were among the recent visitors. AT THE II A II V A It I). Chapman and Mrs MeKenzie, of New York, are among the recent arrivals. They stopped over route on their way South, intending spend but a short time, but were so de lighted with Pinehurst that they will probably remain throughout the season. Prof. C. W. Burkett, of the A. and M. College, West Baleigh, N. C, spent Sun day here. Purchasing Agent P. J. and Mrs. Ward are spending a short time here previous to occupying their apartments in The Tremont.
