I HE annual smoker of the Tin Whistles, held at the Golf Club House Satur day evening, was attend ed by a large number of the members and many invited guests, and good fellowship reigned supreme. In the absence of President C. A. Lockwood, Vice-President (i. Lee Knight presided. John Williams and a troupe of caddj--minstrels, provided the bulk of the even ing's entertainment, giving songs, dances and "orchestral selections'' in addition to ".John's" quaint comments which may be summed up in his opening remark, in which he likened those not members of the Tin Whistles, to the man who fell out of a balloon and when asked what hap pened, remarked tersely : "Well, I'm not in it, that's all." The orchestra was composed of two pieces, a fiddle and a banjo, and assisted hy rhythmic hand-clapping, and it fur nished the motive power for the buck and wing dancing which was remarkably good, and the many songs and choruses which llavored of Darkey land and were given with much natural harmony. Pncle Demus contributed to the even ing's enjoyment with the familiar song about Pharaoh's daughter: "Where o where is Pharaoh's daughter; Went to bathe and the alligator caught her Far away in the promised land!" adding several new verses and singing the chorus in unison with the company. Mr. W. E. Hervey gave two songs with banjo accompaniment, which were warmly received. At the close of the entertainment pro gram refreshments were served, cigars lighted and a time spent in story telling, chorus singing and sociability. During the evening the drawings for Saturday's Kickers Handicap were made and the winners announced. mis. AIVDERSOX WINS. A Disguise Party at The Carolina has been arranged for this evening, to which a general invitation is extended. Partic ipants may wear any disguise they see lit, but it must be a complete disguise. Numbers will be given out by those taking part as they enter the hall, and a prize will be given for the largest number of correct guesses as to the names of the masqueraders.
