The Cornuall.
Let students sing of football,
Loud paeans in its praise.
Let our nation worship baseball
It will, through all its days,
Bostonians eat their fish-balls
And chortle their delight.
The debutante in winsome slang
Calls social balls "all right."
The college girl plays basket ball;
It fills her heart with cheer.
The mother hears her infant bawl
'Tis music to her ear.
For me, when all is said and done,
I make my choice with glee,
The good, old-fashioned cornball
Is good enough for me.
The sweet, ambrosial juices
Of the luscious sugar cane,
And the snowy, fluffy grains of corn
From many a fertile plain,
Are met and blended in one whole
Delicious unity.
Seductive, irresistible,
Alluring ecstasy.
All hail, King Corn '.long be thy reign;
Our loyalty we bring.
We hail thy consort, Sugar Cane,
And all her praises sing,
May no discord thy union mar,
And naught thy marriage break;
And I'll consume thy prodigy
Till every tooth shall ache.
Keeps Him Guessing-.
I courted her some years ago
And found her conduct most distressing
Her thoughts she would not let me know,
But much preferred to keep me guessing.
To please her earnestly I tried,
And meekly played a second fiddle,
But still it cannot be denied
At all times 6he remained a riddle.
When she consented to be mine,
Though my delight was quite unbounded,
I had been sure she would decline
And therefore was somewhat astounded,
But I concluded, anyhow,
Some little insight I was getting
And thought I'll understand her now,
Tfiat she is through with her coquetting.
Some years that girl has been my wife,
But still some doubt of that arises.
In fact, I find that married life
Is just a series of surprises.
I would not trade her for a farm
You understand, I'm not dejected;
And yet her moods have well, the charm
Of the entirely unexpected.

Absence.
When I think on the happy days
I spent wi' you, my dearie,
And now what lands between us lie,
How can I be but eerie!
How slow ye move, ye heavy hours,
As ye were wae and weary!
It was na sae ye glinten by
When I was wi' my dearie. Anon

It keeps him very busy now
The god of tender passion
Is practicing his autograph
In quite a startling fashion.
For when the soldier lovers part
From sweethearts tried and true,
He signs as Cupldvitchskyoff,
Or Cupiduriu.
