PAGE THE PINEHURST OUTLOOK THEY TOOK ELEVEN FIRSTS Pinehurst's Utility Plant Exhibits Win Prizes at Raleigh Fair. Excellence of Dloo&ed Stock and Fancy Poultry Attract At tention of JGntii-e State. KODUCTS of Pinehurst's crack utility plants, the Dairy, Piggery and Poultry Farm, had things much their own way at the North Carolina State Fair, held at Raleigh, last month, win ning first in every class entered. General Marigold, patriarch of the dairy herd, carried off the blue ribbon for the best bull shown, and the piggery first for the best Berkshire boar two years old and under, the best boar one year old and under and the best sow one year old and under, and had the 'combinations" been known at entrance, two more prizes would have been secured. The Poultry Farm walked away with seven of the first prizes, won in a variety of classes. The presence of President Roosevelt during the fair, made the event the most important in history both in the standard of the exhibits shown and the attendance, and Pinehurst's exhibits attracted favor able attention from fancy breeders from all portions of the state and many parts of the country. The reputation of these departments is gradually extending andcreatinga steady and increasing demand for their products. The summer has marked a satisfactory sale of hogs and maiijr inquiries are be ing received, not only concerning this de partment, but the fancy poultry as well. LAST YEAR'S OUTLOOK. A Few Complete Volumes are Now Available. A few complete sets of The Pine hurst Outlook for Vol. VII r, 1904-05, say a dozen in all, may now be had by addressing this office. Bound, they form a complete illustrated history of the sea son which is a never failing source of in terest to the possessor. A very limited number of complete sets for the season of 1902-03, and 03-04 are also on hand. The price is one dollar' per set, expressage to be paid by the purchaser. ALL 1HJSINFSS. Long- - Distance Telephone, Fxprcsi ana Telegraph Office. The local Western Union Telegraph office, also a money order office, is open, and the local agent of the Southern Ex press Company is handling direct busi ness. The Long-Distance Telephone service is now complete, bringing all portions of the country into close communication with the Village. AT ATLANTIC CITY. Mid-Seaaon CSayetle the Utile During Early Winter JKontlut. Late November and December are the most delightful months of the year to visit Atlantic City, and the "Queen" of seashore resorts claims a generous share of attention from tourists wending their way southward. The attractions are many and varied, both indoors and out, with brilliant mid season gayeties at the Casino, cosmopol itan promenades on the famous board walk, golfing, boating, sailing, fishing; life, activity, good cheer everywhere; and a climate which is ideal. Among the best known of the many hotels is the Traymore, open the entire year and accommodating 450 guests. It maintains the same high standard of ex cellence in winter as in summer, giving its guests the same courteous attention in December as in August. Located as it is in the most fashionable section of the city it appeals to the best class of tour ists, and is able to extend to its guests golf club privileges, thus enabling an en tire stranger to enjoy the full benefit its advantages with regular members of the club. The links here are of national promi nence and a source of pleasure and enter tainment for both players and non- players. The Village Hall. Pinehurst possesses a distinctly New England feature in its Village Hall. It is here that various public meetings, enter tainments and public religious services are held, as well as other public gather ings. The building is a roomy one, with a stage adapted for amateur theatricals, and a floor for dancing. lloque and Croquet. Roque and croquet interest many visi tors and there are ample opportunities for the enjoyment of the game, courts being located at The Carolina, Holly Inn, Berkshire, Magnolia and other points in the Village.
