John Teagle, of Cleveland, and W. C.
Teagle, of New York, secured forty birds
in three trips, bags of ten, eleven and
nineteen.
Among others who have been often in
the field and who have enjoyed good
sport, are W. 0. Lentz and son, of Mauch
Chunk, Pa., George F. Blake and son, of
Worcester, Mass., E. J. Wardwell and
son, of Camden, Me., E. J. Freedman, of
Mount Vernon. Others by the score,
have spent a day or more, off and on,
with pleasure and satisfaction.
WORK OF THE DOGS.
The dogs of the Kennels have divided
honors, Ned M. Winona, Gibson Girl,
llosemont Spec, Scotland Bragg and
Ponto leading, and Dick, Mark, Wliite
man, Lacy, Bell and Dolly all doing their
share.
THE DEMAND FOR DOGS.
The demand for dogs and puppies
among the visitors has been steady, one
of the most recent purchases being
"Dick," by C. A. Lockwood. Mr. Foot
takes two puppies, and Mr. Taft "Lacy''
and a promising puppy. Other dogs will
pass into new hands very shortly, now
that the season is over.
The dogs will spend the summer, as
usual, in New Hampshire, in order that
they may be kept in the finest of condi
tion for the opening of another season,
which is, thus early, being anticipated.
GALLOP I1A1IO THROUGHOUT.
(Concluded from page one.)
pace it meant a slight lead, which Mr.
Moorman maintained to the end.
Next in line came Mrs. Whitridge, Mr.
Toffey and Mr. Simonds, almost neck and
neck, it seemed to the crowd upon' the
porch ; then half a minute's wait and a
single rider, with two others a few lengths
behind ; another close af ter, and the re
mainder of the pack well up.
"The hounds win by nine and a half
seconds," called Mr. Buck, and the crowd
broke into a cheer in which the hares and
hounds joined. Then the riders dis
mounted, eased the saddles on their tired
horses, got their breath, and a jolly ride
in which nearly all joined, brought the
affair to an end.
OF OTEltST TO MEN.
Fervent Qolfereas Write of Hob
Nails and .Putting- Greens.
To the Editor of The Outlook :
I thoroughly agree with the "Ardent
Golfer," that the high heels of the women
make thegreensmostinaccurate.lt seems
to me, however, unjust though usual, to
lay all the blame on Eve's shoulders, as
the inaccuracy of the greens produced by
the high heels of the women is greatly
increased by the far more numerous hob
nails of the men. Remove the hob-nail
beam from thine eye, Sir Golfer, and the
high heeled mote will disappear.

PLEASANTLY HEMEMREREl).
Birthday Observance PleaNunt Feat
ure of Week at Carolina.
The birthday anniversaries of Mr. Geo.
II. Quincy, of Boston, and Mr. F. W.
Kenyon, New York, were very pleasantly
observed at The Carolina Sunday and
Monday ; Mr. Quincy rounding out seventy-two,
and Mr. Kenyon, fifty years.
Birthday cakes were cut for each in the
hotel foyer, and both were the recipients
of many gifts both from friends here and
at home.
A pleasing feature of Mr. Quincy 's
birthday was the presentation of a native
basket completely filled with novel little
gifts, by the young women, among whom
Mr. Quincy is a great favorite.
Both Mr. Quincy and Mr. Kenyon have
spent many seasons here and their friends
and acquaintances are legion. ,
Ruys Virg-inia Farm.
After visiting many of the land agen
cies of Virginia, I ran up on Casselman
& Co., of Richmond, Va., and have pur
chased a nice farm within ten miles of
that city. I found Mr. Laurence Cassel
man, the head of this firm, a Western
man, and I unhesitatingly advise all who
contemplate buying lands in Virginia, to
call on this firm, as they seem to have
control of most of the desirable proper
