Mr. Wood, the champion, is only a lad of eighteen, but he has a splendid golf ing record, winning the western inter scholastic championship two years, and running-up in the western open champion ship last year, lie qualified eighth in the amateur .championship last season, and has held the championship of his home club, lie is a member of the western Olympic and Lawrenceville teams. TOURNEY A RECORD 1JREAKER. In many important particulars the tour nament was a record breaker; the field being not only one of the largest, but the most representative of various sections of the country, in the history of these events. Perfect weather was the rule throughout, and everybody felt its influ ence. Music at-the Country Club house, daily, and afternoon tea, Saturday, gave the event a delightful social side. At Pine Jleach, Va. Pine Beach, Va., April 2, 100G One of the most delightful of the several special evenings last week was the card party tendered by the management. The womens prize was won by Mrs. E. B. Hearle, Montreal, the men's by Mr. W. V. Home, New York, the lone hand by Mr. W. W. Pickett, Montreal, and the consolation by Mr. L. Bacon also of Montreal. The numerous boat rides to nearby points of interest are proving very popu lar with the guests and many golfers are enjoying the beautiful and picturesque links of the Country Club which are at the disposal of Pine Beach Hotel guests. Many new arrivals continue and nu merous bookings give promise of a most delightful company during the , next couple of months. Seaboard Atr Hue Announce Spring' Changes in Service. The Seaboard Air Line announces that on and after Tuesday, April 17th, they will discontinue the operation of parlor cars between Pinehurst and Washington and return on trains 66 and 43. Pullman sleeping car service, Pine hurst to Washington and return, will be discontinued from daily service after north-bound trip Friday, April 13th. On and after date, same will be operated tri weekly : north-bound on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; south-bound Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
