JUDK1INS, - manager, THE WEEK ONE OF GAYETY Visiting Golfers Give Hotel Corridors Midseason Appearance. Numerous Pleasant Social Affairs Fill in Time With Wednesday's Banquet the feature. HE week has been one of unusual gayety in hotel circles, the big influx of visiting golfers giving the corridors a midsea son appearance, and numerous pleasant affairs filling in the time, Wednesday evening's banquet at The Carolina, being the event about which interest centred. There were also numerous informal dinners and bridge parties, and the usual hops at The Caro lina and The Inn were enjoyed by many. Old and new friends have also come in large numbers, and many of the golfing visitors are planning to remain through out the week, so that tomorrow's depart ures will hardly make a perceptible dim inution in the company assembled here. At The Carolina. One is glad to find old friends assem bled here, and the week's arrivals have brought many as well as new comers, which all are glad to welcome. Affairs in doors and out are occupying attention, with bridge as popular as ever, and danc ing a never ending source of pleasure to the younger set. Golfers lead among the out-door lovers, but many who ride are gathered here as well as those who come for tennis, trap and pistol shooting and other sports. Saturday evening a large company, which included many from the various hotels and cottage's, assembled for the annual "house-warming" dance, and a merry party it was ; a pleasant prophesy for the more formal events which are an nually enjoyed by the entire Village. AMONG THE GUESTS. Prominent among the old friends which the week brings are Ex-Gov. George P. McLean and Senator Charles C. Cook of Connecticut, who return for their annual soiourn, joining Dr. L. P.Jones of Green wich. Mr. John II. Fahey returns for several week3 golf and riding., Mr. Fahey is one of the owners of the Boston Traveler. Mr. and Mrs. D. McK. Lloyd of Pitts burg, spent the week here and will return later for their annual sojourn. Mr. D. Herbert Hostetterof Pittsburg, returns and is, as usual, devoting his time to golf and shooting. Mr. V. C. Johnson of New York, is back for a second visit of the season, en joying golf and shooting. Mr. W. S. North of Chicago, is here for his annual sojourn, and will be joined soon by the family. Mr. and Mrs. C. II. Rosenfeld of New York, are again here for the winter, re newing pleasant associations formed in the past. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kranich and Mr. and Mrs. George O. Cole of New York, will remain several weeks. Mr. W. E. Lyford of Thompsonville, is spending two weeks here. Mr. D. A. Hyman of Chicago, is here for a month's golf. Mr. F. W. Kenyon of New York, is again here for the season. Mr. A. B. Rankin of New York, of The Official Golf Becord, spent the week here in the inteiest of his paper. Mr. and Mrs. R. Curtis of New York, are completing a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Albert B. Ashforth, Miss Bates, three children and maid of New York, will remain several weeks. Mrs. E. Weiler and Mr. A. M. Uicksler of Pittsburg, are here for a long sojourn. Mr. Arthur C. Vaughan and Mr. Donald C. Vaughan of Garden City, will remain two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. AVm. Cooney and Miss Claire Cooney, Greenwich, Conn., are among the week's arrivals, and they are delighted with their first impressions of Pinehurst. Mr. E. A. Olds, Jr., of New York, will make an extended visit. Mrs. Henry D. Noyes and Mrs. Francis S. Ilutchins of New York, are spending several weeks here. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald II. Macdonald of New York, will make a short stay. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Walworth of Law rence, Mass., will spend the week here. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Gill and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Kingsland of New York, are making a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. C. Bradford Fraley of Philadelphia, are spending two weeks here. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. II. Wood and Miss Josephine Wood of East Orange, will re main several weeks. Mrs. Thomas Keery and Miss Keery of New York, will remain through February. Miss Rumsey and Miss E. E. Rumsey, Chicago, and Mrs. S. II. Wheeler of Fair field, Conn., are making a short visit. Prominent among returning friends who participated in the tournament was Mr. Frank Presbrey, the first president of the American Golf Association of Ad vertising Interests, and his son, Mr. Charles Presbrey of New York. Others here included Mr. R. R. Mamlok, Mr. M. II. Mallory, Mr. Winslow Mallery, Mr. W. M. Sanford, Mr. Ralph Holden, Mr. John B. Woodward, Mr. Robert Froth ingham, Mr. E. J. Ridgway, Mr. W. R. Hotchkin of New York; Mr. George F. Steele of Brookline, and Mr. T. W. Weeks of New York; Mr. George N. Morgan and Mr. J. B. Shea of Pittsburg; Mr. A. L. Aldred of Providence; Mr. George L. White of Waterbury ; Mr. George W. Watts of Durham, N. C; Mr. George C. Gardner and Mr. W. S. L. Hawkins of Springfield, Mass.; Mr. Newton Annis of Detroit; Mr. W. R. Roberts, Mr. F. A. Hays and Mr. W. M. Ostrander, Philadelphia. Among the ladies who came for the tournament were Mrs. Ralph Holden, Mrs. E. E. Calkins, Mrs. E. J.
