The week at The Carolina has been the gayest of the season, the social centre 'round which the entire Village has radiated, interest culminating in Tues day evening's brilliant German. In addition numerous less formal affairs were enjoyed, among them the Substitute Golf tournament, bridge par ties and dinners. A large bridge tourna ment is planned for the immediate future and the young people are already looking forward to another Cotillion, with Washington's Birthday as the prob able date. The week has been conspicuous for its social affairs, cards, golf and dancing all being much in evidence, and a large in flux of guests augmenting the number already assembled. Thursday evening Mr. David Fleming of Philadelphia, entertained at whist, Mrs. C. E. Cameron, Mrs. Franklin Ber win, Mrs. A. I. Creamer, Mr. Franklin Berwin, Mr. C. L. Becker and Dr. E. K. Frankish winning the prizes. Monday evening Mrs. C. II. Wilson en tertained at euchre, Miss Macleod, Miss Cable, Mr. C. F. Spear and Mr. Wm. Beach being the prize winners. A putting contest for ball prizes also tilled in a pleasant evening, Mr. E. M. Rockwell winning first, with Mr. O. B. Prescott and Mr. II. W. Ormsbee a close second, the former winning' second on the tie play-oft'. A novelty in connection was placing the tee in the front oflice and having the net or "hole," just beyond the stairs leading to the dining room ; somewhat of a cross-hotel match ! AMONG THE GUESTS. Mr. and Mrs. John Burns, Jr., of Boston, join Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Baxter for an indefinite stay. Mr. Burns, who is a familiar figure on the golf links, is an expert shot, and Mr. Baxter's close rival. Mr. L. I). Pierce of Rochester, returns for his annual sojourn and golf, and is welcomed by many friends. Mr. J. J.
