Saturday's handicap trap shooting
tournament for the Country Club cup,
developed close scores, David A. Leahy
of Brooklyn, shooting from the seventeen
yard mark, leading with a total of
eighty-two.
C. A. Lockwood of Brooklyn, also
seventeen yards, was a close second in
seventy-seven ; F. A. Potts of Lake wood,
(1G yards) making third in seventy-two,
and L. C. Hopkins of Xew York ("6
yards) fourth in sixty-eight.

Miss E. Marie Sinclair entertained very,
pleasantly in the Dutch Ptoom of The
Carolina, Wednesday evening, at pro
gressive bridge, the guests including Mr.
and Mrs. John C. Spring, Mrs. L. C.
Beall., Mrs. Allan E. Lard, Miss Far
relly, Miss Beall, Miss Bates, Miss Priest,
Mr. J. V. Hurd, Mr. X. S. Hurd and Mr.
S. V. Farrelly. Mr. "Jack" Hurd took
the men's prize, a sterling cocktail set,
and Miss Priest the women's, a sterling

THE SPRING TOURNAMENT.
Booked for the immediate future,
March IS, 19, 20 and 21, is the fourth
annual Spring Tournament, with a qual
ification round of eighteen holes and
thirty-six holes match play finals, six
divisions of sixteen each qualifying, with
a gold medal for the best qualification
score, sterling cups to the first divisions
runner-up and the consolation winner,
and silver medals to the winners and
runners up in other divisions.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS.
Entries may be sent by mail or tele
graph, addressed to the Country Club
Secretary, Herbert L. Jillson, or any
member of the tournament committee,
Allan E. Lard, C. L. Becker or H. W.
Ormsbee. Participants, on due notice,
will be in ample time to start when ar
riving on the morning train of the open
ing day's play, as the last pair of the big
field does not get under way until early
afternoon.

Benefit Entertainment at the Tillage

Something in the way of an entertain
ment treat is announced for Tuesday
evening next in the way of a vaudeville
entertainment at the Village Hall. The
company will be the one which recently
gav&a successful performance at Southern
Pines, assisted by Messrs. Charles Baxter
and Frank Ellis of the local minstrels ;
assuring an evening of novelty and
laughter.
The proceeds will be used to help do
fray the cost of furnishing and decorat
ing the Pomari Catholic portion of the
Pinehurst Chapel, the Pinehurst Pelig
ious Association having agreed to set
a portion of the building apart for
Catholic services on the condition that it
be equipped without expense to the Association.
