THE xear GOIFSIIS ciiii An jKxcludiv Organization With Membership of fig-lit Congenial Interesting visitors for the Advertising Golf tourney were the members of the "Near Golfers Club", organized in 1908 for golf and social purposes and its membership limited to an exclusive eight. Tournaments and dinners are held fortnightly during the summer with numerous informal dinners and an nual dinners at Pinehurst and theLotus Club. The name was chosen as a com promise resulting from failure to agree upon any other. In Pursuit of the Golden Goat The "horse play" of the Advertising tourney tntered in the " get your goat contest," a series of putting matches for the possession of bronze "goat medals" of which each participant in the tourna ment was the proud possessor. Every body was supposed to "butt in" and to play everybody else, the largest number of wins claiming a gold "goatherd medal." Through misunderstanding, however, one pair waged their entire possessions on a single match thus dis arranging the order of things and leav ing the gold medal without an owner. Every one who shoots can't be a crack shot, but every one who hunts likes to make a erood baer. You can materially increase your chances of doing so if you use Win chester "Brush" Shells for bird shooting. They are load ed so that, without the loss of velocity or penetration, they make a great big even pattern at the distances most birds are shot. Another desirable feature of Winchester "Brush" Shells is that, when used in a full choke gun, they make a cylinder bore pattern. This means that you can use your favorite trap or duck gun tor neia snoot ing without danger of blowing your birds to pieces. For a first barrel load in any gun they cannot be surpassea.
