but won the third 62, with the crisis

In doubles Cowing partnered with R.
Adams Balfe won by 87,64, 61
from C. F. Hoag of Philadelphia and T.
R. Stevens of New York. In the semi
final the score was 6 1, 60, from For
tune and C. R. De Bevoise of New York ;
the losers victorious over R. A. Chapin
of Springfield and R. II. Jeffrey of
Columbus, 6 3, 61. T In mixed doubles
Miss Agnes Blancke of Essex Fells and
Mr. Cowing won on the default of Mr.
Fortune and Miss Stella Price of New
York. If Mrs. R. A. Chapin of Spring
field defeated Miss Florence Croft of
Pittsburgh in the final of the women's
singles, 64, 36, 63. In the semi
final Mrs. Chapin won from Miss Blancke
G 3, 6 1, and Miss Croft defeated Miss
Therese Farrell of Brooklyn by 61,

Ravenscroft, partnered with E. A. Johns
ton of Baltimore, who is also a member
of her home club at Chester, England,
and playing against Parker W. Whitte
more of Brookline and Mrs. William West
of Philadelphia tied on the eighteenth
hole where Whittemore's four saved
the day. R, F. Robinson of Winnipeg
and Mrs. R. II. Barlow of Ireland, won
from Henry C. Fownes and Mrs. J.
Raymond Price, both of Oakmont, and R.
II. Fortune of Winnipeg and Mrs. J. V.
Hurd of II unilton, Ontario, were victori
ous over G. T. Curtis of Oak Hill and
Miss Louise B. Elkins of Oakmont. All
other matches were easy for the stars
and stripes. The round3 were played on
the championship number two course and
the best card among the women was a
eighty-eight for Mrs. Barlow. Miss
Ravenscroft made ninety-one and Mrs.
