E. Truesdell, E. C. Beall, Spencer Waters and many others well up in the first sixteen when the big guns begin to shoot. It was a handicap affair and went to Mrs. M. D. Rae of Brookline and her partner, C. M. Wells of Southbridge, with the creditable score of 80. They went out in fifty-four, returned in fifty, made good use of an allowance of 24, and ac quired the trophies. Only a stroke be hind was Mrs. W. L. Smith of Pittsburgh playing with R. L. Shannon II of Brock port whose record revealed a total of 101 and a handicap of twenty. Miss Elinor Gates and Philip Carter, from Nassau, played from scratch, and their return was watched with the great est interest from the observant boxes be fore the big window of the club house by the ancient fans. But it was not their day. Their net score of 99 left them near the bottom of the list, and their gross was five points above that recorded by Mrs. Dorothy Campbell Hurd and Stuy vesant Leroy of Newport. This pair chalked up a gross card of ninety, the best of the day. Miss McCague of Sewicfcly and Ned Beall were a very close second on the day's play, as far as pure golfing form was concerned. They went out in 46 and returned with 45. THE SUMMARY Mrs. M. D. Rae, Brookline, and C. M. Wells, Southbridge 5450104 2480 Robert Shannon, 2nd, Brockport and Mrs. W. L.
