team to enter the Carolina Tournament.
Looking over the lists it is also evident
that we can muster a very good foursome
from the home grounds. There' is Tom
Kelly, who has a sideboard full of memen
tos of his prowess, and who is seldom
lucky enough to be allowed lower than the
first division in any tournament. Frank
Gates is a fast payer, and we are told
that Howard Phillips can putt as far as
lie can see. Ever since he took up the
game we have been hearing that June
members of the association. An excellent
steward has been engaged for the Sum
mer and he will serve dinner at the club
for all these charter members on Saturday
evening, May 6th. At this dinner a consti
ution will be drawn up and officers elected,
committee for tournaments and enter
tainment selected, and the policy of the
club and its benefits determined.
Previous statements in this article
might lead one to think that the team to
play for the championship is to be
selected from previous performance or
hearsay. Nothing could be more erroni
ous. There will be a tournament open to
all members of the association immediate

A GLIMPSE OF LITTLE RIVER
Page has the makings, and are con
strained to credit him with a place if
the stories of his 350 foot drives and
eighty scores which drift over from
Southern Pines are reasonably true.
The Sandhill Golf Association is an
accomplished fact. The secretary has
recorded all the support necessary to
make it a strong and representative
organization. And he wishes to be heard
a little as to plans.
The Club House at Pinehurst will be
turned over to the Association after the
first of May. Those who have been
invited and who have signified their inten
tion of joining will constitute the charter
ly after organization to determine what
four men shall represent the Sandhill
district in the event. What colors they
shall wear, and the form of the ultima
tum to be sent before them will be deter
mined at the dinner.
We humbly submit that a good game of
golf is a fine thing, and an end in itself.
But it is still secondary to the advantage
we will all get by association together
af ernoons, and in meeting and competing
with representative men from other parts
of the State and the Union.
Send the Pinehurst Outlook to youi
friends. It will save lettter writing. !
