Hall Beats the Experts at the Traps J. V. Hall, hailing from New York, a leader in the Cottage Colony at Pinehurst, outshot a platoon of experts at the Gun Club Tuesday last for the week ly trap Shooting prize. F. A. Seibert and H. H. Buckley of New York, and G. M. Howard of Halifax also worked under the wire and recorded a perfect score with the aid of their handicaps for the first hundred targets. So these four shot off again, with the result that Hall broke 23 of the frame of 25, and so won the trophy. Howard and Buckley each missed four and Seibert five. R. R. Dickey, a well known expert with the shotgun from Detroit, failed by just one shot to get into the shoot-off a fate also befalling Parker W. Whitte more, scratch man and leader at the traps. 4 SUMMARY Jay V. Hall, New York 86 1510023 G. M. Howard, Halifax 93 810021 II. II. Buckley, New York 93 1310021 I'. A. Seibert, New York 91 13- R. R. Thirty or more of the old clientele assembled, in medal play against an unknown bogey, between 80 and 85. The rules provided that each fellow select his own handicap, the net score nearest the blind bogey to be the winner. This developed a tie at 83 be tween W. H. Curtis of Syracuse, r. B. Rampe, Cincinnati, and Charley Mason of Pinehurst. Curtis won the play-off and the Inn championship. Some of the best players in the South were numbered among the entries. S. M. Morgan of Altoona, a first division man, had to be content with 82, one off the magfic num ber, F. S. Danforth of Orient made the best gross score of the day with 76. C. B. Hudson, an other familiar expert, came in with 81. Col. W. C. Jones and J. H. Galley of Syracuse just missed the mark with 85. Mrs Roland H. Barlow, the Pinehurst champion, returned an 89. Among tne ladies Mrs. C. P. Lake and Mrs. F. S. Danfroth tied with 84 for best position. This familv affair ranged from chamoionshio golf, a 76, to the remarkable record by one player of 237. why Be a Duff; AH Your Life?
