ftlUXKA TIN
An Echo From Ihe American
Ambulance
You may talk about your voitures '
When you 're sitting round the quarters,
But when it comes to getting blesses in,
Take a little tip from me.
Let those heavy motors be.
Pin your faith to Henry F 's old Hunka
Tin,
Give her essence and l'eau,
Crank her up and let her go,
You back firm', spark-plug-foulin'
Hunka Tin.
The paint is not so bad,
And no doubt you '11 find the hood
Will rattle like a boiler shop en route;
The cooler's sure to boil,
And perhaps she's leakin oil,
Then oftentimes the horn declines to
toot.
But when the night is black,
And there's blesses to take back,
And they hardly give you time to take
a smoke,
It 's mighty good to feel;
When you're sitting at the wheel,
She 'U be running when the bigger cars
are broke.
After all the wars are past,
And we're taken home at last.
To our reward of which the preacher
sings,
When those ukulele sharps
Will be strumming golden harps,
And the aviators all have reg'lar wings
wnen tne Jvaiser is in Hell,
With the furnace drawing well,
Paying for his million different kinds
of sin,
If they 're running short of coal,
Show me how to reach the hole,
And I'll cast a few loads down with
Hunka Tin.
Yes, Tin, Tin, Tin,
You exasperating puzzle, 3Tunka Tin,
I've abused you andl've flayed yon,
But, by Henry Ford who made you,
You are better than a Packard, Hunka
Tir.

The Maner Clan Clathers
The "Vernon Castles" of the One
step, Waltz and Fox-Trot were out in full
force, in spite of the inclement weather,
at a shindig held at ye old Club house
for their express benefit last Tuesday
evening. Old folks and young, who are
employed in the village are cordially in
vited to attend these "hops," which are
conducted by Mr. James Maher every
other week, until later in the season,
when one will be held once a week. As
Mr. Mahr is bearing the expense himself
it is hoped that the employees will en
deavor to co-operate with him to make
these dances a success. The Carolina Or
chestra win. furnish the music and those
attending will be asured of a pleasant
and enjoyable evening.
First Weekly Putting- Contest for
Women Won lj Miss Gordon
Golf Champion
Miss Elizabeth (?) Gordon, who holds
the Women's Golf Championship of
Ehode Island, set the standard for the
year's play and led the field in the first
putting contest of the season, held on the
big clock in front of the country club.
The first round resulted in a three
cornered tie between Miss Gordon, Mrs.
J. D. Armstrong and Mrs. George Stat
zell. They all returned a tally of 26
for the twelve positions. Mrs.. Statzell
failed to linger for the play off. ' Mrs
Armstrong improved the score by one,
recording a 26, one over par. It was
then that the Providence expert began
showing her real speed. She came
around to the seventh position one over
two, apparently heading to tie the score.
But there she was a little closer to the
cup, and sank two ten foot putts in
succession, scored perfect twos in the re
maining chances and finished victorious
with a 23. This equals the best the men
were able to do last week, and is only
one above last year's best performance.
Mrs. G. M. Howard was next in line,
leading Mrs. Fayen, Miss Morrison,
Miss Hathaway, Mrs Tomkins and Mrs.
Hathaway in the order named.

Miss Carolyn Dog-art Too Fast for
Field In Annual St Thomas
Tournament
Making a correct imitation of Elea
nora Sears, Miss Carolyn Bogart smashed
and lobbed her way through to the finals
of the annual St. Thomas tournament for
women. Miss Gertrude Thurston and
Miss Bertha Morrison could not stay
her progress in the first bracket.
Mrs. Balph Page edged in the final
round from the other end, defeating Miss
Esther Tufts and Miss Mabel Bliss. But
she was in no wise equal to staying the
victorious progress. In the first set she
negotiated one game. In the second she
negotiated none. Sum total, Miss Bogart
assimilatd the cup, having lost just four
games during the tournament.
Stuyvenant Peahody
And Mrs. Peabody of Hinsdale, Illinois,
have rented the Craddock cottage and
have been welcomed by the Colony for
the Season. Mr. F. T. Ellison from
Rochester had originally signed on for
the cottage, but subsequent events made
it impossible for him to take it as
planned. Mrs. Poabody is a sister of
Miss Mary V. Healy.
Maxwell Begins
To cut down the Season's mark for the
championship course. First crack out of
the box he slipped around for a 78, just
to warm up, and so set the first low
amateur score of the Season.
