Medal play and match play, team play
and swatfest, flag day, two ball, best
ball, four ball, lost ball, against Bogey
and against par, twelve best and twelve
-worst, championship and dodo matches
the program gives promise of a year of
carnival on the links, with a fair chance
for every merry member to take at least
one of the splendid array of prizes for
these occasions provided in profusion.
This is the schedule.
January 15th. Swatfest. Two classes.
Prize for each class. Prize for best net
score. A player may not win more than
one prize in this event.
January 21st. Medal Play. Twelve se
lected holes, rejecting the three best in
each nine. Your score is determined by
your twelve worst holes. Two classes.
Prize for each class. .
January 25th. Against Bogey. Two
classes. First and second prizes for each
class.
February 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th. Three
Mi Match. Twenty-seven to qualify.
Prize for best net score. Play off on
six-point system. First, second and third
prizes. A player may not win two prizes
in this event.
February 6th. For those who failed to
qualify on February 5th against Bogey.
Prize for winner.
February 11th and 12th. Round Eobin.
Twenty-eight to qualify. Prize for best
net score. Best eight gross scores form
two sets of four to play off at scratch.
The other twenty net scores form five sets
of four to play off at handicap. Prize to
"winner of each set. A player may not
win two prizes in this event.
February 12th. For those who failed
"to qualify on February 11th against
ogej. First and second prizes.
February 18th. Foursomes. Medal
3?lay. Prizes are given by Mr. H. C.
Fownes and second prizes.
February 21st. Fourteenth Anniver
sary. Flag contest. Two classes. First
and second prizes for each class. The
right of way on No. 2 course is given to
the Tin-Whistles for two hours on this
day.
March 1st. Four Ball. Against Par.
First and second prizes.
March 12th. Team-Match and Eighth
Annual Tin Whistle Dinner. Each man
pays for his own dinner. Details will be
posted. Special handicaps.
March 14th. Mixed Foursomes. Medal
Tlay. Two classes. First and second
prizes- for each class.
March 18th, 19th, 20th. Fifteenth An
nual Tin Whistle Championship. Medal
play. Fifty-four holes, eighteen on each
course, in order of 1, 2 and 3. Cham
pionship and prize to best gross score for
J holes. Prize presented by Mr.
Leonard Tufts to best 54 holes net.
Prizes also to second 54 gross, second 54
net, best 18 gross and best 18 net on any
one course. A player may not win more
than one prize in this event.
March 23rd. Medal Play. Twelve se
lected holes, rejecting the best three in
each, nine. Your score is determined by
your twelve worst holes. Three classes.
Prize for each class.
March 26th. Against Par. Two
classes. First and second prizes for each
class. .
March 28th. Special Tournament for
those who have not won a prize this sea
son. Medal Play.
April 9th. Medal Play. Twelve se
lected holes, six in each nine.

Rets $200 for Red Crow Fund
The second of the weekly card parties
and dancing afternoons held under the
patronage of the ladies of the cottage
colony in charge of the Bed Cross work
in Pinehurst las held last Thursday after
noon at the Club House. It opened with
a bridge whist and 500 tournament,
in which there participated the full
chorus of the recognized experts at the
game as well as an amazing number of
casual trumpers and amateurs drawn by
the prospect of a substantial "Consola
tion" donation, the company and the
cause. The rules of the game were sim
ple. Every table played as many rub
bers as they could get in before 4.30,
on the dot. And proceeded through the
afternoon on the pivoting system, so
that every individual in there would have
his own private score when the whistle
blew. And it was ordained that the per
son whose two best rubbers totalled the
highest got the silken award. Likewise
that the second best came in for a mede,
and the lowest score both for reward and
the envy due to anyone unhampered by
rules and practice.
In this fateful contest Mrs. G. A.
Magoon led in a walk. She came trium
phant through a heavy barrage of
doubling and took such amazing advant
age of a ' complicated cross ruff and an
army corps of spades lined up to support
her in a Venturesome No Trumps, that
she scored no less than 1998 points over
her unhappy rivals.
Bosse showed pretty fair speed, and
won second place with 1878. Meanwhile
Mrs. J. J. Carter discarded from weak
ness, and led from her tens to such effect
that she had no rival at all for the
handsome consolation, taken with a neat
83.
Then the leash was taken off the in
veterate trombone, the cello began to
sing and the snare to roll, the dock was
cleared for action, and the girls reigned
supreme. Riding habit and golfing frock,
afternoon gowns after Paquin, and the
purple and cerulian wonders nowadays
done into sweaters lent color and variety
to the dance until dewy eve, and the
last bus for dinner.
