Here is a complete schedule of golfing .events, the rules of entry and handicaps And prizes as handed us by the govern ors of the Pinehurst Country Club. Tenth Annual Mid-April Tourna ment. April 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.- Quali fying round and finals, eighteen holes. Sterlng Trophy for best qualification score; President's Trophy to winner of -first sixteen; Governors' Trophy to win ner of second sixteen; Sterling Troph ies to first division runner-up and con solation division winner in second di vision. A woman's Putting Contest for a Sil ver Trophy is held every Saturday afternoon. Post and telegraph entries ars iboth accepted. CLARK BEAT PAR 'Tla Whistle Match a Victory for 13. 191 . Taft Last week the Tin Whistles undertook to play against Par, with appropriate handicaps, and prizes in two classes for the most successful in this ambitious program. The enterprise found just one man able to come home with a triumph over the goal set. That was W. D. Clark of Woodbridge who led the second di vision, and boasted one up wt ha handi cap of 24. Col. H. W. Ormsbee of the South Shore recorded a tie, and took second place. Beyond thit it is duly re corded that E. M. Taft, hitting out an 83, with an allowance of 12 was one down on par, but at that the winner of the main prize in the first division, lead ing such experts as I. S. He came over the roads in a runabout from Coop ertown, New York without a hitch. And he came in just the nick of time. The town was suffering from an acute gaso lene famine, and the question was how to get the Samarcand for tea, being given for the joy of the Universe and the American Red Cross. His big touring tank was full, and so he took on a load and sped on his way. lioads the JLadies Shooting for the weekly prize at the Pinehurst Gun Club Butts last week, Mrs. J. E. Fowler of Newton Centre won the prize for the best score made by any of Annie Oakley's class of rifle shooters. Out of a possible 150 points she made a score of 140.
