cl T. Keating-
Mrs. Clare Metcalf, of Providence, and
Francis Talfourd Keating, of New York,
were married in the Pinehurst chapel last
Wednesday at high noon. There were no
formal invitations issued, but the little

been associated with life in Pinehurst
and the development of the colony for
a long time. The Rev. T. A. Cheatham

Mrs. Metcalf has spent her winters in

has the distinction "of being, under Mrs.
Metcalf 's genius for design and decora

THE VILLAGE GOSSIP
The very thing nowadays is a quail
dinner at Blows Hunting Lodge. Any
way, that is what I am told by a party
that galloped over the trail to Jackson
Springs Saturday, fell upon Blow all un
prepared and got a spread just the
same. They were George Aranyi, of New
York, Miss Keep, from Lockport, J. C.
Fowler, G. N. Townsend, and Mr. and
Mrs. A. II. Corwin from East Orange.
I believe I am within the limits of
veracity provided for journalists when I
say that there is now not an empty house
in' the town. The John C. Chapmans
come in from Greenwich and opened the
Albermarle come just in time for a trial
of strength between their cabriolet and
Charlie Crocker's mogul. This took
place at a turn near the Carolina Hotel,
and after a spirited encounter the cabri
olet surrendered, having to have one
