Cone 61 The first ' round of match play on Tuesday was productive of some line golf. In the first eight Mrs. W. S. Bird, Sleepy Hollow, defeated Miss L. For dyce, Youngstown, 7-6; Mrs. Geo. Dut ton, Woodland, defeated Mrs. J. Wright, 3- 2; Mrs. W. F. Smith, Brae Burn, was defeated by Mrs. C- W. Beck. Jr., N. Y., 4- 3; J. F. Duryea, Brae Burn C. C, de feated Mrs. C. W. Hoyt, Cherry Valley, 4-2. On Wednesday Mrs. Dutton turned back Mrs. Bird, 5-3, and Mrs. Duryea was again victorious, defeating Mrs. Beck, 7-6. The finals on Thursday found two greater Boston women meet ing. Mrs. Duryea, playing fine golf, won with ease from Mrs. Dutton by 6-5. In the finals of the second eight, Mrs. E. Faber, Richmond County C. C, de feated Mrs. J. A. Moore, Sleepy Hollow, 2-1 and the finals of the third eight produced Miss H. Aronson, Inwood, a victor over Mrs. A. S. Higgins, St. Andrews. On Saturday a special Red Cross Tournament open to all was run off for the ladies in the form of a handicap event.
