MISS MARY CHAPMAN Principal Sixteenth Annual Spring Tournament March 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. FATHER TIME stepping surely and steadily along brings once more to the golf lovers of Pinehurst the An nual Spring Tournament for 1920 with all its oldtime interest and promise of keen competition. This year as in the past the field will sparkle with class. It includes stars such as Parker W. Whitte more, Chick Fownes, W. E. Truesdell and Donald Parson; and maybe Francis Ouimet will be on kand to add more class to the entry list, if business con ditions allow him to. Last year the fortunate ones witnessed a tie for the Best Medal in the Quali fying Round when D. L. Armstrong and Edward Styles tied with a gross of 154 for the 36 holes. In the playoff Styles was the victor, but Armstrong more than evened matters by defeating Styles in the finals of the 1st Division by 5-4. Thee hundred and seventeen entries teed off during the last event last season and it is expected that even a larger number of contestants will strive for the beautiful trophies which will be up for competition this year. As in the past, the Qualifying Round will be of 36 holes, with the Pinehurst System for classifying the players in divisions in effect. The winner of the Best Medal score will secure a gold medal; President's Trophy to winner of 1st sixteen Governor's Trophy to win ner of second sixteen; Secretary's Tro phy to winner of third sixteen; Treas urer's Trophy to winner of fourth six teen; Captain's Trophy to winner of fifth sixteen; Club Trophy to winner of sixth sixteen, and suitable trophies for winners of other sixteens as well as for division runners-up. . THE WONDERFUL ROUNDS play ed off last by P. W. Whittemore, of Brookline, have even his most ardent ad mirers gasping and wondering where he will stop. Whittemore 's numerous rounds in the low seventies prove that just now he is in rare form, and don't be surprised if one or more of the course records go by the board in the near future. NOT TO BE OUTDONE W. E. Truesdell, winner of the Veteran's Tour nament at Apawamis for two succeed ing years, has also been exhibiting his wares and recent rounds forebode danger for some of the trophy seekers in the Spring event. Like good wine, he seems to improve with age and he has Father Time guessing, as well as his friends. POLICE DOGS Meadow Brook Farm, Hempstead, L. I. it LEWANNO KENNELS Mr. and Mrs. L. F. F.
