(Continued in next Issue) GOLF ON THISTLE DHU : '.About '.fifty golfers jtoW part last' Thursday in an invitation medal score tourney on Thistle Dhu, the celebrated 7 miniature course attached to the resi dence of James Barber of Englewood." The prizes were presented by: Mr. Bar-, ber and were won by John D. Chapman'"', of the Greenwich Country Club who led the field with a round of 24 16 40, and by Frank S. Danforth of North Fork and A. S. Biggins of St. Andrews, who tied at 41. Par on the course is 20 21 41, and Chapman's 16 for the last nine holes in- eluded three aces and a total of five holes played under par. That the course is not an easy one may be gathered from the fact that only eighteen of the half hundred players went over it within ten strokes of par figures, while a host of them finished in the sixties, and one of them, C. R. Corwin of Brae Burn, took 58 strokes for the first nine holes. h P. W. WHITTEMORE HAS ROUND OF 68 Parker W. Whittemore of Brookline started out by taking three putts on each of the first two greens on the championship course last Sunday and came within sight of a record for the course. As it happened, however, he took an approximate six on the six teenth and finished with a round of 33 35 68, a stroke better than the best am ateur figure for the course in its present form. Whittemore had a chance to beat the course record with 62 for seventeen holes. On the sixteenth his second sliced into a trap near the green. He did not get out on his third and picked up when his partner had a sure four. He had ten holes in 3 each, six going out, which with three 5's gave him 33 for the first nine. He took three putts from just off the first and second greens. He also had a chance to save a stroke on the seventh and eleventh. Whittemore was playing in partner ship with F. C. Newton, the Staten Island champion, against Emmet French and Charles Mothersele, professionals. The amateurs won by 5 up and 3 to play, turned in a remarkable best ball of 63, and although French went around in 71 Mothersele helped him on a couple of holes. The professionals won only one hole in the match. Whittemore 's card Out 5 5 3 3 3 3 5 3 353 In 3544 4 3633 3568 Newton went around in 73, French in 71 and Mothersele in 76.
