The influences that brought Pinehurst up out of the sand barrens are still ex istent, and are more powerful as they are better known. With the original influ ences are those which have been developed, such as the excellent hotels, the good roads, the admirable golf courses, and those other auxiliaries that bring out the benefits of climate and location. The continued development is logical. The village having pretty Avell filled up the overflow goes farther out, and continued overflow means reaching to the Midlands farms, Mid-Pines, Knollwood and Edge moore. These will all be stimulants to Pinehurst and part of the community, for Pinehurst has already ceased to be the village and become the community. It is the center and the heart of the ex panding unit. I don't undertake to say what Pine hurst is to be in the next twenty-five years but it is easy to see that it is to be something as much bigger than the pres ent as the present is bigger than the past.
