Locally Owned Dogs The locally owned dogs gave a good account of themselves. A Dalmatian dog owned by Capt. W. W. Cowgill was said by the judges to be the best seen in many years. Miss Anna Belle MacNab's Scottish Terrier, Tam-O'-Tam, Avon first in one class, second in another and third in another. Charles H. Banes' Bull Terrier, Dumb Bell, carried off the prize in the local sporting dogs class, 25 pounds and over, and was unanimously admired. Mrs. L. F. F. Wanner 's Asta Aldinger, an unusually fine Shepherd dog, was awarded best in show for that breed, and Mrs. George W. Statzell's Greystock Boola was awarded second in the Novice class. At a meeting of the executive commit tee of the Kennel Club following the show it was unanimously decided to omit best of all breeds in future shows at Pinehurst and in the place of that fea ture all the winners of various breeds will be paraded in the ring collectively for public exhibition. Dr. J. E. De Mund, who was on hand as one of the iudges at the Pinehurst show, was very favorably impressed with the idea, feel ing, as he said, that it was an impossi ble thing for any judge to determine the best of all breeds. The show was under the management of Mr. George M. Foley of Philadel phia, and to him much credit is due for the huge success of the affair. In addi tion to the money prizes a handsome ag gregation of special prizes were donated by numbers of dog fanciers. The judges were Messrs. Thomas Shalcross of Prov idence, R. I., American Fox Hounds and Beagles; Frank Reily, Medford, N. J., English Setters; Dr. J. E. DeMund, Brooklyn, N. Y., Irish Setters, Cocker Spaniels, Chow Chows, Airedales, Fox Terriers, Irish Terriers, West Highland White Terriers, Pomeranians Pekingese, Miscellaneous, Variety classes, unclassi fied special prizes, Alfred L. Flesh, Piqua, Ohio, Shepherd dogs; and J. C. Weiler, Kingsport,. Tenn., Pointers. The officers of the club elected at the annual meeting during the show are: President, Harry D. Kirkover; Vice President, C. T. Crocker; Secretary -Treasuer, Leonard Tufts ; Executive com mittee, W. H. J. Robertson, Mrs. Sid ney Franc, Walter W. Lindley,' P. H. Powell, and Mrs. Leo F. F.
