Golf has been the chief diversion of these men. o Mrs. E. E. Merrill and daughter, Maude, of Cleveland, Ohio, are registered at the hotel and expect to remain for several weeks. o Recent stop overs at the Highland Pines Inn, on their way further South were : Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Jones, of Red Wing, Minn.; Mr. A. M. Grant, of Youngstown, O. ; Mr. S. E. Gordin, of Milwaukee, Wis. ; Mrs. W. F. Meyer, of New York City. o Lorillard Spencer, Jr., of Newport, R. I., has arrived for a short visit. Mrs. L. Spencer will occupy a suite at the Highland Pines Inn for the season. o Mr. Edwin Beach, of Orange, N. J., is here for another winter of golf and sunshine. o Admiral W. W. Meade, U. S. N., has arrived for an extended stay. -o Mrs. F. D. Ostrander, of Gloversville, N. Y., for many years a visitor to the Sandhills, has arrived for the winter which she will spend at the Highland Pines Inn. o Alexander McLean, Charles Bear, George Wilt, all of York, Pa., are enjoying the fine golf facilities and weather of Southern Pines and Weymouth Heights. o Mr. George Moore, of New York and Boston, has arrived on the Heights and will spend the winter occupying one of the bungalows operated in connection with the hotel. o Mrs. Loraine Carrington, of Booneville, N. Y., has arrived at the Inn to spend the winter. Mrs. Carrington who is an old patron was greeted by her many friends at the hotel. o Mr and Mrs. W. W. Johnston, of Washington, D. C, will again be patrons at the Inn. Their arrival was retarded because of Mrs. Johnston's illness in Washington. o The Highland Pines Inn were recent hosts to the Kiwani's Club of Southern Pines at the weekly luncheon held at the hotel. o Mrs. John Y. Boyd is a prospective guest who is expected to arrive shortly. Mrs. Boyd needs no introduction as she was one of the pioneer resorters of this Sandhill section.
