So we are passing from a primitive com munity depending on the one-horse plow and the hoe and hand work to the engine driven machine that moves itself and drags other im plements to hurry along the work. The Pinehurst area is not only an orchard area but is suddenly transformed by orchard needs into a new industrial horizon which steps to one of the high places among industrial operations. An orchard is one of the most attractive surroundings of any village or home neighborhood. When the orchard is duplicated on all sides, and the practice of the orchard men is modern and lined up with the labor saving devices and stimulated by the knowl edge and skill of the resources of the state and national government it is a right good feature of the place you live. The story of the twenty cars of new tractors is that Pinehurst is preparing to wrap about the community a farther drapery of peach orchards and blossoms and fruit, a marvelous picture for the spring, a profitable feature for the summer, and an influence of uplift for agricultural practice that is beyond estimate in its value in every way. At least that is what that twenty car loads of tractors said to me as Mr. Stutts told me what he had bought. mJ Jut t C t . A ml DOC C C C U moctf - ( cm Wnrr c r r raj rr oc c off PUTTING!
