The Jockey Club Races
THE Sand Hill Pace, feature of the Jockey Club races on
Wednesday last, was won by Love Berry, owned by A. W.
Hodges, of Benson, N. C, and driven by Moore. This
made the ninth straight victory in as many starts for this good
pacer. The Judge, owned and driven by W. H. Cane, of Hacken
sack, N. J., finished second in both heats of this event, and Frank
Thomas drove Dr. Starter into third place.
An extra heat was necessary to decide the winner in the Country
Club Trot after Baby Ruth, owned by John McKinnon, of Laurin
burg, N. C, and driven by Hawkins, and Let Fly, owned and
driven by Cane, each won one of the first two heats. Let Fly won
the deciding heat and the race.
The running track was muddy from the showers during the
night and the mud larks had their inning. Uncle Sand, entered by
N. S. Hurd and ridden by Snyder, outdistanced his field in the five
and half furlong race, and St. Jude, the recent acquisition of Miss
Helen Waring, displayed a sparkling performance in winning the
seven furlong event in 1 :31 over the muddy track.
Kate Glenn, entered by the Red Gables Stable, and ridden by
Norman Smith, scored her sixth victory of the present season in the
steeplechase event, defeating Misfit and Ray-O-Light. The latter
made a bad landing at the eighth jump and lost his rider.

Firleigh Farms has to offer, in addition to a beautiful Dutch
Colonial twelve-room country home with all modern appointments,
150 acres bearing peaches.
Firleigh Farms' home place, located one mile north of Southern

pasture land, 30 of which are set in peaches. This place is offered
for $50,000.00.
The main Firleigh orchard is located on the Southern Pines
Pinehurst Boulevard near the Mid-Pines Country Club, and con
