LAURENCE BARR, a member of Pinehurst's cottage colony, broke 149 targets out of a possible 150 in the rifle shooting contest this week and equaled the .high mark for the range which has stood for a good many years. Mrs. Barr has been shooting in rare form this season and it would not be surprising to see her score a perfect target of .150 before the season ends, a feat that has never been accomplished at the Pinehurst range. Miss Elsa Blancke, of Essex Fells, N. J., was second high gun this week with a score of 143, and Mrs. A. W. Stanley finished third with 139. These three shooters had already won prizes this season and, therefore, were ineligible this week and the prize was awarded to Mrs. Alvin Hutzler, of Richmond, Va., who was next high gun with 138 breaks. Other good scores were: Miss Iretta Bush, of Wyncote, Pa., 137 ; Mrs. W. B. Merrill, Newton Center, 136; Mrs. J. R. Harbeck, New York, 133; Mrs. Lera Kehaya, New York, 129, and Mrs. John J. Stewart, Cole Spring Harbor, 92. v The WENTWORTH by the SEA SEASON! MID-JUNE TO MID-SEPTEMBER THREE MILES FROM PORTSMOUTH, N. C Builders are at work on the Richard Tufts House at Knollwood Village. This will be another fine habitation on a fine location, for it is on the summit of the hill top, looking out over the golf grounds, and over the whole picturesque valley. A lot on either side of this house is still to be had. But they are being sold out pretty close in the vicinity. A view from that hilltop is always worth the effort. And you might find something more than the view to interest you. A. S. NEWGOMB & CO. PINEHURST, N. C. Are Selling Agents for KNOLLWOOD VILLAGE
