News from Mid-Pines
Mr. and Mrs. George N. Clemson and Mrs. M. A. Taylor, of
Middletown, N. Y., were among the week's arrivals and will spend
the remainder of the winter at the Club.
Among others registering during the week were Messrs. Charles
E. Beane, of the Charles River Club; R. C. Buttolph, Rye, N. Y. ;
H. C. Shafer and H. D. Knittle, of Scranton, Pa.
Dr. A. N. Broughton, of Boston, was the guest of Mr. H. C.
Strong for luncheon and golf on Friday last. Mr. Strong is spend
ing some time at the Club.
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Priest and Miss Lucy Priest and Mr. and
Mrs. Charles F. Lancaster were over to the Club for dinner on
On Monday last Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Whitbridge, of New York,
and Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Boyd, of Southern Pines, were luncheon
guests at the Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Page entertained a party of sixteen
friends at dinner on Wednesday evening.
Miss Mary Mack, of Chicago, was the luncheon guest of Mr.
and Mrs. H. B. Emery on Monday.
Miss Sara Fownes, Mr. Howard Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. F.
T. Keating motored over to the Club for dinner on Sunday.
Dr. H. M. Keller and Mr. J. B. Wanner, of Haverford, Pa.,
drove over on Thursday for luncheon and an. afternoon of golf.
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Middleton, Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Leas, Mr.
and Mrs. W. W. Potter, of Haverford, Pa., and Mr. H. B. Duane,
of Brookline, Mass., comprised a party who came over from Pine
hurst on Thursday for luncheon and a day of golf on the Mid-Pines
Messrs. N. W. Clayton, South River, N. J. ; C. S. Brooks,
Detroit Golf Club; H. A. Luce, Oakland Hills, and L. A. Murray,
Red River, comprised another foursome who came over from Pine
hurst for a day of golf on the Club links.
Mr. J. D. Mirt and Mr. William M. Shand, of Columbia, and
Mr. Richard Tufts were dinner guests at the Club on Sunday and
also enjoyed an afternoon of golf .
