At The Races ONE of the best running races seen at Pinehurst this season occurred with the running of the six-furlong event at last week's meeting of the Jockey Club when Firing Line, a newcomer here and ridden by Hillcoat, took the measure of the hitherto undefeated Hot Muffins, owned by Mrs. C. H. Norton and ridden by Red Snyder. Hot Muffins had won her every start at the local track and her defeat at the hands of the "dark horse" gave the talent a considerable jolt. With this exception, all of the favorites had easy sailing and accounted for the remainder of the card. LoveBerry, the pacer belonging to A. W. Hodges, of Benson, N. C, and driven by Moore, kept on its winning way and scored its thirteenth consecutive victory, and the Good Time Stable scored two firsts and a second with representatives from that stable. Let Fly had no trouble in dispos ing of his opposition in the Magnolia trot, and Norman Dillon out distanced the field in both heats of the Combination harness event. The following is a summary of the clay's sport: ANNUAL FEBRUARY PACE LoveBerry (Moore) 1 1 Billy Allen (Flowers) 2 2 The Judge (Hogan) ; 4 3 Dr. Starter (F. Thomas) 3 4 Time 2:16, 2:17.
