They were called upon to concede a five goal handicap, but played a far faster and more aggressive game than on Tuesday and won the second of the series, 13 to 7. Another game with the Green team was played on Saturday and again the Englishmen were triumphant. This time they scored 8 goals and held the Sandhill team scoreless save for the five goals conceded to them on handicap. Capt. McMul len was the particular star of this game. He started with a goal scored on a brilliant back stroke in the first period and tallied four of the eight goals accumulated by his team. The fourth and concluding game was a return engagement with the Blues and was one of the best exhibitions of polo ever seen on the local field. Capt. Egan was still out of the game but watched the proceedings from the sidelines, and Major Rhinehart took his place, Mr. Slocock going back to his regular position at No. 3 with his own team. The Blues were given a three goal handicap which was quickly offset when Major Rhinehart scored three goals in the first two periods, and from then on it was a neck and neck race. The Englishmen were in the lead in the third period until Tuckerman tied the score with a sensational tally. This was fol lowed by a spectacular run by Slocock who took the ball with sweep ing drives the entire length of the field for a goal which gave the home team the lead once more. The remainder of the game was close and keenly contested, but the visitors were always on deck to take advantage of the slightest opportunity and managed to squeeze in a goal in each of the remaining periods, which gave them a final victory of 9 to 6, making three games won and one lost out of the four games played. Climate, A permanent Resource (Continued from page 5) which will build up here one of the greatest producing centers in the world. All the accessories are either made in the temperate belt, or of easy access. As people discover that they like to live in Pinehurst in the winter they further learn that it is a desirable place to live in summer, and learning that here is a desirable place to live they learn further that here is also a preferable place to make a living. Because North Carolina is a state of rural growth instead of a state of big cities, and because here is a broad abundance of room it is not likely that industries will pile down in one narrow bit of country, but that they will scatter around in all directions with moderate sized villages as the home centers. Pinehurst will grow as a delightful center of homes in which people will live who have their business establishments at Sanford, Vass, High Falls, Glendon and other points where power is gen erated by the streams, or where railroad facilities afford easy trans portation. Here will be a great recreation center of a high character and of attractive homes and pleasant surroundings. Climate has only commenced to work in Middle North Carolina. But with modern scientific progress, with water power, furnishing energy to such an extent that the coal of the North is no longer a necessity, and with every facility for carrying on all the industrial operations the marvelous influences of climate have started a development that will in a short time be a revelation of just what climate is destined to do. And as the Chicago man said, climate is a continuing re source. It is never exhausted. Climate is the greatest natural asset in the world, and Pinehurst has probably the best natural average of climate in the midst of the greatest range of other assets of various kinds that are grouped together any place on earth.
