for March 30,1923 9 IIIIIIMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIH Randolph Racers Make Auspicious Debut THE well-known pink and blue silks of P. S. P. Randolph, of Lakewood, N. J., whose horses have played a prominent part in racing on the eastern tracks for a dozen years or more, made their first appearance at Pinehurst this week and were very much in evidence when his entries, Rekab and Hermoden, ridden respectively by Jelley and Carr, finished first and second in the six furlongs flat race. These two horses are recent acquisitions to a formidable string Mr. Randolph is wintering here, and he was justly proud of their initial performance, for behind them followed such a good one as Firing Line, winner of the Hurd Cup race the week before. The feature race on the program was the annual Stewards Cup race for a handsome cup contributed by the Jockey Club and was won by Nat S. Hurd's good racer, Uncle Sand ridden by Snyder. The Clockmender, a recent cup winner and ridden by Hilcoat, was second, and Joe Milliner with Wright up, came in third. The time of 1 :08 for the five and half furlongs was the fastest time made this season for that distance. The Good Time stable accounted for the Peach Blossom trot and the Combination harness race with Let Fly and Norman Dillon, respectively, and A. W.Hodges' fine pacer, LoveBerry, made its appearance long enough to take both heats of the Legion pace, making its sixteenth consecutive victory here, and called it a day. Captain McMullen, a member of the English polo team which was playing a series of games here, rode War Baby in the five furlong dash for amateur riders and finished a close up third. This event was won by Hellsman, ridden by J. C. Thomas, which nosed out Beverly L. Walters on Well found in the last few strides. The summary: Legion Pace LoveBerry (Flowers) 1 1 Zelka (J.
