A. W. Hodges' good horse, LoveBerry, who had won sixteen consecutive races here, kept on his winning way and won the annual Spring pace, but not without giving his admirers a scare. He took the first heat in his accustomed style but failed to respond with that belated rush which has marked most of his victories, and had to take second place to Billy Allen, driven by Moore. The champion regained his racing legs in the third and deciding heat, however, and came on to an easy victory. The entries of the Good Time Stable, Let Fly and Norman Dillon, won the Dogwood trot and Combination Harness race, respectively, V r w4 . J I : 1 '- -. t-( - V J I A. W. Hodges' Fast Pacer, LoveBerry, Which Has Won Seventeen Consecutive Races at Pinehurst. and Rekab, entered by P. S. P. Randolph, of Lakewood, N. J., whose horses made such an auspicious debut at Pinehurst last week, romped off with the five and half furlong event. The other flat race on the card was a dash of seven furlongs and was won by Hellsman, entered by E. J. Spriggs, of Philadelphia, and ridden by Carr. Claude Walker, with Hilcoat up, finished second, and Ray-O-Light came in third. After Ray-O-Light and Misfit were withdrawn from the steeple chase, the field was reduced to two starters, Kate Glenn, entered by the Red Gables stable, and W. F. Lang's Hindoo, but these good jumpers put up a splendid exhibition of fencing over the mile and half course, with Kate Glenn gaining the verdict.
