Show THE fifth annual A. K. C. show, held at Pinehurst on Monday and Tuesday of last week, had an entry list of 260 and included entries from practically all the foremost kennels in the country. The show was particularly remarkable for the quality and quantity of gun dogs and hounds, the entries in the pointer classes being greater than at the recent New York show and included the top notchers of the whole country. Dr. A. C. Heffinger, of Portsmouth, N. H., judged the American Fox Hounds and Beagles; Samuel G. Allen, of New York, judged the Pointers, and Dr. J. E. Dunwoody, of Philadelphia, judged the English Setters. Dr. J. E. DeMund, of Brooklyn, made the awards in the following classes: Irish Setters, Wire-Haired Pointing Grif fons, Cocker Spaniels, Collies, Shepherd Dogs, Chow Chows, Aire dale Terriers, Boston Terriers, Foxterriers, Irish Terriers, West Highland White Terriers, Pomeranians, Pekingese and Miscel laneous. Bert Cowgill's great pointer, Ryman's Grouse Malt, was awarded first in the winners class for that breed, while reserve went to Kirk's Ashantee Dominant, owned by Harry D. Kirkover. First for op posite sex was awarded to Fred Bimble's Lady Lightfoot, and Mr. Kirkover again won reserve with Kirk's Lucky Light. In the winners classes for English Setters, Mrs. Francis Lieber's Buttonwood Sceptre was awarded first, while P. H. Powel took reserve with Denwood Buff" Whitestone, and first in the opposite sex with Denwood May Dan stone.
