Stephenson, Jr., of Severn will perform works of Brahms and Debussy in a piano concert at the Palacio de Musica in Barcelona, Spain. Stephenson is one of a group of students participating in the con cert which is being given in hon or of Maestro Pablo Vallrlbera, director of the Conservatorio del Liceo of Barcelona and profes sor of piano to the participating students. The concert will be followed by a midnight supper in a nearby restaurant. Jackson Man In Far East FIRST MARINE BRIGADE AT SEA - Marine Lance Corporal Donald L. Harris, son of Mrs. Sadie Harris of Jackson, N. C., in serving with the First Marine Brigade, which recently departed its home base In Hawaii for duty in the Far East. The brigade was originally scheduled to participate in the West Coast Navy-Marine Corps’ Exercise "Silver Lance" in late February, but was cancelled out when the international situation in the Far East changed. The First Marine Brigade is one of our country’s unique fight ing units. It is the only known combat unit in the world in which air and ground elements live and train together under the same roof, and is under the control of a single tactical commander. CONWAY - The Conway Boy Scouts have recently organized their troop after a seven year period of inactivity. The sparks that started these recent wildfires of activities are the newly elected senior patrol leader and assistant, Frankie Davis and Eddie James, respec tively. They are under the adult supervision ^d leadership of L. G. Britt, Jr., Scoutmaster, and Billy Williams and Mack Davis are assistants. Since their first meeting four weeks ago they have had two overnight camping trips. These were in preparation for a council camporee to be held April 30- May 2. The first overnight expe dition was spent on the baseball field behind the Conway Elemen tary School. The secondwasasix mile hike to and from Parkers Ferry. While theretheboysplay ed games, went boating and fish ing. The purpose of Scouting is to. develop outdoor as well as other knowledge and skills.
