REPORTING FOR FOOTBALL PRACTICE—Approximately 50 boys reported for the opening session of football practice at Northampton County High School on Monday morning. Coach Bob Sutton and Assistant Sidney Ellen conducted classroom briefing session, issued practice equipment and ran the boys through field practices. These eight boys saw action with the Rams last season; front row—Clyde Carroll, Tim Boone, Kenny Smith, Jack Warmac and E. G. Tarvin; back row—Charles Bass, John McKellar and Gene Bowers. The Rams open the 1965 season on Friday night, September 3, in a game with Gates County there. Practice sessions are being held twice daily until the opening of school. The morning session is at 8:30 a.m. and the boys re port back for a 6:30 p.m. session. Coach Sutton is “most en thusiastic” over the team's prospects this year. Last season, the first for the new school's team, ended with a 2-5-1 record. j Milwaukee Mrs. G. C. Warren was In Portsmouth Monday and attended the funeral of E. B, Odom. Vernon Welsted of Richmond spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. H. Grady Brld- gers. Mrs. Welsted and children returned home with Mr. Welsted after a week’s visit with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. George W. John son and son, Chris, of Dallas, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Bridgets visited Mr. and Mrs. Grady Bridgets and Blannle Sun day. Sgt. and Mrs. G. E. Berry and children of Norfolk spent the weekend with Mrs. Emma Piland and Dorothy. H. I. Coggins, Sr., who Is a patient at Richmond Memorial Hospital, Is improving. Lee Aston will be In Houston, Texas, attending a school for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Askew and family spent the weekend at Mashoes. Larry Smith of Norfolk spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Sarah Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Wayland Johnson and son, Dan, are vacationing at Nags Head this week. PAGE 5 TIMES-NEWS, Rich Square, N.
