GARYSBURG - “Buying Elec trical Appliances” was the topic of the demonstration presented by Mrs. Autrey Jenkins, home economics extension agent, when the Garysburg Home Demonstra tion Club met last week for the September meeting. In the business session Mrs. R. O. Harris, president, named a nominating committee to elect a new slate of officers. Mrs. H. M. Joyner is chairman of the committee and will be assisted by Miss Clyde Reid and Mrs. J. L. Fitzhugh. The group welcomed Mrs. Frances Bigsby as a new mem ber. Mrs. Jenkins’ announcements Included a meeting of the County Council and Fall Achievement Day November 9 in Milwaukee. Miss Clyde Reid was selected as Garysburg's “Clubwoman of the Year.” She will competewlth other contestants in the coimty for the title, “NorthamptonClub- woman of the Year.” During the social hour the group surprised Miss Reid with a birthday party. GASTON - A program entitled ‘Living in the Space Age,” was presented Monday night at a neetlng of Lebanon church’s Woman’s Society of Christian Service. Mrs. J. S. Wells, pres ident, gave the program. Purposes of the program were to be aware of some of the con tributions that scientists are making for the future life of mankind. Subjects discussed' by Mrs. Wells were “The Tele scopic World,” “TheMicroscop- Ic World” and “The Man-Sized World.” New program books were dis tributed and other program ma terials were on display. The Rev. Angus Cameron of Jackson performed the ceremony, assist ed by the Rev. C. Blythe of Suf folk. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Jones of Jackson. The bridegrodm is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lonechar of Weston, W. Va. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother, Raymond Jones of Jackson. Miss Peggy Jones of Jackson was her sister’s maid of honor.
