T orthampton ||i iiam By JOURNALISM CLASS rocks Mid - term examinations on January 14, 17, 18 have moved the Club Day from the second Thursday In January to January 20, the third Thursday. On that day all clubs and classes ex cept Student Council will hold their regular meetings. The results of the examina tion campaign are scheduled to be forthcoming January 25 at NCHS; In other words, report cards will be given out on Tues day, January 25. A six-week's grade and a semester grade along with the examination grade will be the new grades to appear on this report card. The semester grade Is the average of the three six-weeks' grades and the exam ination grade tempered by the effort put forth during the se mester. When the report cards come out and there Is an A, It covers grades from 93-100; B, 85-92; C, 77-84; D, 70-76; and E, below 70. The average grade In this grading scale Is C. This scale Is supposed to be used state wide. The majority of NCHS students have one study hall each day. This fact means that most students will have one examination period with no examination. Mr. Jones says that students may stay at home till 10:30 a.m. If this pe riod comes In the morning, or go home at 1:00 p.m. if this period comes In the afternoon, Students must attend classesscheduled from 10:30 till 1:00 each day of examinations. He reminds stu dents that first and second period classes scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, are the first classes of the second semester. Bobby James, a freshman, has moved to the county from Charleston, S. C,, and joined the NCHS student body. He Is the cousin of Sue and Eddie James. Bennett Bryant and E. C, But ler have completed a replica of the Globe Theater, the eight- sided Elizabethan theater In which Shakespeare presented many of his dramas. Made of plywood, the model Is two feet tall at the stage area. It has a thatched roof. The interior Is complete showing stage, with three levels, three balconies around interior, and the open roof over the “grounding” area. The octagon-shaped model can be opened for viewing and Is on dis play In the science display case. The favorite outdoor sport at NCHS these days Is watering the shrubs that were set out around the building before the - holidays. Harrell, county extension chairman, re turned this week to his home here after being hospitalized at Park View Hospital In Rocky Mount. Harrell, admitted to the hos pital on December 26, underwent an operation for removal of kid ney stones. Miss Ponton Troining At Butner GREENVILLE - Seven seniors in the School of Nursing at East Carolina College are currently completing part of their nursing degree requirements at John Um- stead Hospital at Butner. Under the direction of Minnie C. Wolcott, associate professor of nursing, they are studying psychiatric nursing. They are the fourth ECC class to be assigned to Umstead Hospital, The seniors IncludeAliceKaye Panton, daughter of Mr. andMrs. Charlie Panton of Milwaukee. At ECC, Miss Panton Is a member of the Angel Flight of the Arnold Air Society and a 1962 graduate of Conway High School. Daughter Benefactor Grant Will JACKSON - The will of Mrs. Ella F. Grant who died December 2 has been probated in the Clerk of Court office, and named her daughter, Claudia M. Davis ex ecutrix and Russell H. Johnson, Jr. of Conway, attorney.
