A beautifully appointed luncheon given at Battery Pffrk Hotel yesterday by Mrs. E. L. McKee, of Sylva, who assembled ten prominent club wo men of the State and the first dis trict. The affair honored Mrs. Pal mer Jciiiian, of Raleigh, president of the Njortli Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs, who came up on Monday to Meet Mrs. McKee, who is the recording secretary of the same distinguished body, to confer with her concerning the publication of the minutes of the last State convention which met in Winston-Salem in April. Besides the honorep, Mrs. Jerman, several -officers and chairmen of the State body resident in this the first ?district, were the guests of the gra cious hostess, as were also three other friends seated around the board with Mrs. McKee and Mrs. Jerman were Mrs. Eugene Reilly, of Char lotte, a past president of the State Federation, who has also held many high National offices with distinction, who is with her family spending the Summer at Busbee Inn; Mrs. Lenoir Gwin, of Wavncsville, first vice president of the North Carolina Fed eration; Mrs. R. Duke Hay, of Black Mountain, president of the first dis trict of the Federation; Mrs. Charles Quinlan, of Waynesville, State chair man of Child Welfare work; Mrs. Rufus L. Etc.. of $6426.34, or $2.00 Per Lineal Foot Frontage, for Paying One-Third of the Cost of Paving Either Side of Main Street of the Town of Sylva, Jackson Coun ty, North Carolina, Authorized by an Ordinance Adopted July 3, 1923. Be it rcsolvcth-by the Board oi Commissioners of the Town of Sylva: Section 1. The aggregate prin cipal amount of the Local Improve ments hereby levied against the abut ting property owners on either side of main Street for the purpose of paying one-third of the cost of pav ing Main Street on either side to that portion paved by the State Highway Commission is $6426.34, or $2.00 per lineal foot frontage, the" same being authorized by an Ordin ance duly passed by the said Board of Commissioners of the Town of Sylva on the 3 day of July, 1923. Scction2. That the said levy here by made is for the purjwse of paying one-third (1-3) of the cost of paving Main Street, extending from either side towards the center of ? said Street to that portion paved by the State Highway Commission, the same being a public necessity and for Local Improvement, and the useful-, ncss of sai?l improvement is about Twenty Years. Section 3. That the said assess ments hereby levied against the prop erty abutting Main Street in said Town shall be divided into Four (4) equal payments, one, two, three and four years, and all deferred payments or installments to bear six (6) cent interest from the date the levy is completed as provided in said Ordinance, and the payments to be in the fall of the years 1923, 1924, 1925 and 1926, when other taxes are due and payable, and the payments to be numbered one, two, three and four.
