They are: David Leete, crew club and past president of the SCC; Pete Simpkinson, crew club; Melissa Denmark, women’s volleyball club; Pierce Barden, sailing club; and Carolina Heller, equestrian club and current SCC vice-president. Awards will also be presented to outstanding participants in IM-REC Sports. They are: Mark Arrowood, supervisor; Steve Mcßae, men’s manager; Steve Watkins, fraternity manager; Christine Norwood and Deborah Mayo, women’s co-managers; Joy Sallenger, grad/faculty manager; and Christy Santoro, lifeguard. Other winners are: Michelle Morris, aerobic dance instructor; Todd Steelman, office assistant; James Banner, male participant; Nicole Gignac, female participant; Jason Mutch, intramural officer; Sarah Fain, rookie official; and Steve Woodham, facility monitor. Wright, Katter win tennis classic Charles Wright and Jill Katter defeated Tio Lien and MichikoNohara 6- 3,6-3, to win the First Annual Carolina Charity Classic on April 4. The mixed doubles tournament was sponsored by the UNC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Clubs, and S2OO in donations was raised to benefit Habitat for Humanity. .. . ' ' • ' * t / Douthit, Heller qualify for zonal horseshow Merdith Douthit placed third and Caroline Heller finished second at the Regional Horseshow at Hollins College in Hollins, Va,, on April 7. This qualified them for the Zonal Horseshow at the University of Viginia last weekend. Earlier, the UNC Equestrian Club travelled to Ferrum College in Fertum, Va. Sarah Crumbaugh made headlines as she placed first over fences, first on die flat, and was named reserve high point rider for the show. Heller also contributed with a first place finish over fences, and Gail Durkin took second on the flat. The club’s first meet of the semester was held Feb. 23 in Laurinburg. Katie Largen, Hellet, and Kelly Mannix all took first place finishes, while Gwen Lynch, Durkin, Douthit, and Jennifer Albert captured seconds. IM-REC Notebook * The IM-REC Golf Tournament, originally scheduled for tomorrow (Friday), has been moved to Tuesday, April 27. The tournament will be held at Finley Golf Course. Entries will be accepted until tomorrow at 5 p.m. • Becky Hutchins and Jeff Abrams were the big winners in the recent IM REC Swim Meet ’93. Hutchins won first places in the 200 medley relay, the 200 freestyle, and the 100 freestyle, while Abrams took firsts in the 200 medley relay, the 50 backstroke, and the 50 butterfly. Women winning two firsts included Terri Purcell, Danielle Daggett, Kim Piontek, and Kira Schrolt. Men who won two firsts were Tony Herndon and Jeff Klein.
