The 6-foot 4, 240-pound junior lumbered the rest of the way 53 yards for the touchdown. “I was in the right place at the right time,” DeLong said. “I’m not sure really what happened.” Neither were the Bobcats, who now stand 0-1. For the second straight week, the Tar Heels hit the ground running and never had to pass the ball. In two starts, Stanicek has thrown 18 passes. And with all the good news in the running game and the near-shutout defensively, Brown struggled to find something to complain about. But he did. “We still haven’t gotten done what has to be done in the passing game,” he said. “I’m not very pleased with it. Wehad some dropped balls, and had some guys in the wrong place. But we’ve got to improve there some before next week. “I’m hoping that we’ll continue to im prove the passing game. But the running game has been better than expected.” Even the passing game had a bright spot on the night. Senior wide receiver Corey Holliday had two catches on the evening, extending his school record for consecu tive games with a catch to 35 and breaking Earl Winfield’s record for career recep tions. Holliday’s 1-yard screen catch with 1:38 remaining in the first half gave him 108 for his career. “The record doesn’t mean that much to me right now,” Holliday said. “It’ll prob ably mean something to me after the sea son is over, but I’m happy to get it behind me. 1 think it was a Me distracting.” North Carolina’s first scoring drive was typical for the night it was short. The longest Tar Heel scoring drive lasted 2:19 as Stanicek marched the offense 44 yards in seven plays. WilliamHendeisonrammed the ball in up the middle from 15 yards out to give UNC a 7-0 lead. Johnson & Johnson provided the most exciting moments of the evening with two electrifying touchdown runs. LJ, who al ready had a 19-yard second-quarter touch down under his belt, took an option pitch from Stanicek around the right end, juked two Bobcat defenders and bolted 62 yards to the end zone. “I waspretty tired,” Leon Johnson said. “My pants were wet, I was feeling heavy, so it was like, ‘Whew, it’s over with, so I can get a little rest.’” Curtis Johnson found himself still in the game in the fourth quarter with the Tar Heels up 37-3. CJ made the best of the situation by scampering 56 yards around the left side for the sixth UNC rushing touchdown of the evening. The Tar Heel defense did allow Ohio some semblance of a running game, but stopped every Bobcat drive short with a sack or big play. The DAP is a park for young players with a dream, not old ones with a hernia. The outfield is made for players who move at the crack of the bat, not a second later. Coleman wants parents to mobilize and take control of the park. They can have a Little League schedule that includes week end and playoff games played at the DAP. 50 Copies Open Til Midnite 7 Days A Week c.o. COPIES 169 E.
