2 Monday, September 13,1993 Hardship Permits Issued BY ERICA LUETZOW STAFF WRITER While transportation in and around UNC can sometimes be difficult, it became a little simpler for students who received hardship parking permits on Friday. Students began stopping by the Security Services building Friday afternoon to see if they received their hardship spaces. Magic Shannon, a senior from Wash ington, D.C.,leamedFriday afternoon that his hardship application had been ap proved. “(The permit is) very convenient be cause I live in Ehringhaus (Residence Hall), and it’s just in the back of E-haus,” he said. Joe Walsh, a senior from Raleigh, also said he was pleased with his parking as signment. “I’ve been hiking over two miles every day to class, ” he said. “It (the permit) will work out pretty well.” Jennifer Lloyd, student parking admin istrator, said all students should check the posted list of permit recipients outside the Security Services building and pick up their hardship permits by Sept. 16. This year, approximately 500 students applied for the 300 hardship spaces that student government could allocate. Information is available in 211 Hanes Hall. include the BCC in the fund-raising effort, donors would have to earmark funds for that project as they would for donations to other University projects. “That is not in the Bicentennial Cam paign yet,” he said. “There have been a lot of stories going around that the money is already there for the BCC, but that is just not the case. “The donors who have given to the Bicentennial Campaign have restricted their money, and it will be used for the purposes designated by the donor.” At a faculty meeting Friday afternoon, Chancellor Paul Hardin said he would be involved in the BCC fund-raising efforts. “I expect to take a strong personal role in seeking and raising money for the cen ter, ” he said. “I’m personally committed to this.” Harris could not be reached for com ment Sunday.
