8 | GAMEDAY PREVIEW Ht /?/,/ "A m\\ OFFENSIVE LINE The line has kept Sexton and Dailey’s jerseys relatively clean this season, but it has been plagued by mental breakdowns. Costly holding penalties and false starts have killed promising drives and poor run-blocking has not made it easy for Tar Heel backs to find running lanes. Grade: C- QUARTERBACKS f This season has been just another example of why a quar terback rotation rarely works. Cam Sextoh showed a few flash es of brilliance after replacing Joe Dailey, but drive-killing interceptions and an inability to find open receivers have stunted UNC’s offense all season. Grade: D \ I MIDSEASON I KICKERS & PUNTERS After a down season in 2005, Connor Barth has returned to his first-year form. He is a perfect 5-for-5 on field goals, including anew career long of 52 yards. ~ I Punter David Wooldridge has shown he can boom a punt but hasn’t been able to them inside the 20-yard line. Grade: A- ■■■ RUNNING BACKS Ronnie McGill should have been a 1,000-yard rusher, but frequent cramp ing and poor run blocking have kept him * far short of his potential. MeGill has been on the sideline in short-yardage situations, giving Barrington Edwards many chances to showcase his talent. Neither has shown much consistency. Grade: C WIDE RECEIVERS Freshman standout Hakeem Nicks has shown he has the tools to be a big-time down-the-field threat. Jesse Holley has quietly led this corps and fellow former two-sport Tar Heel Brooks Foster has played well at times. : Dropped passes have hurt this group but not as much as poor quarterback play.
