The In dian m iil had arrived at Trieste with dates from Calcutta up to 0th, and from Bombay to February 10th. A proclamation had been issue!, hy Lord I) illiousie, the Governor ijeneral of India, on 7th Feb. announcing the formal annexation of the Kingdom ofOudc to the liritish possessions, as well as the de position of its Kin ou a British Pension. The only reason assigned for this usurption of territory, is that it is so very handy to have it annexed ! Of course the natives of the country see that Great Britain will continue increasing her territory in Asia, and th Sandal rebel lion lias been renewed with great force. Trade in India was inactive, and prices fluctuating. .Money was however easier. 7A; J i aim rial Accouchement in Paris ! The birth of the prince, heir to Napoleon, and King of Algiers, caused much outward rejoi cing in K.igland and France. Congratulato ry addresses were pouring into Paris from all quarters. Louis Napoleon sent an autograph letter to Queen Victoria tliankingher for the important domestic information she had so favorably given to the Empress. Paris was illuminated, and feus tie joie were exhibited. Feasts were given to the armies and wine flowed though the fountains of the Place de la Concorde. Pope Pio Xono is to be the God-father and the Q.jeen of Sweden the G oil-mother. In England the toadyism of popular display to wards France on this account was really dis gusting. Flags were hung out of the win vdows, and guns and salutes tired off in the principal cities in England on the announce ment that Eugenie had one baby ! Just as the Atlantic was sailing a tele graphic despatch was received from Paris, stating that on the bulletin boaru displayed at the Tuill-ries it was announced that "the Empress and royal infant were doing as well as could be expected." The number of doc tors and nurses, wet, dry and intermediate in atteneance at the palace 13 almost fabu lous ! The Peace Plenipotenliaries. By last ac counts it was stated that Baron Manteuffel had arrived in Paris, and it was expected that the peace protocol would be signed in a few days, and matters proclaimed with a loud flourish. The secrecy of the proceedings is still kept up by the members of the Conference most carefully, and nobody knows upon what con dition Hussia has consented to stop the war. Arrival of the Asia. THREE DAYS LATER ! ! ! New YoTtK, April 4. The Asia, with three days later intelligence from Europe, Las arrived here. She left Liverpool at 10 o'clock on the morning of Saturday, the 22nd, with 48 passengers. The Arago had arrived at Southampton. There is no English news of importance. The Kintr of Belgium was a guest of Queen A'ictoria at Windseir Castle. There was no business transacted in London or Liverpool, the day previous to to sailing of the Asia, it being Good Fri- ... clay. Mr. Buchanan had introduced Mr. Dal las to the Diplomatic Corps, and transfer red the charge of the Embassy. In the afternoon he went to Paris, but would re turn on Friday and take passage in the steamer of next day. A despatch from Paris says the Empress and Prince were doing well. Rejoicings continued all over the Em pire, and congratulations were still pouring in to the Emperor. The papers are filled T-ith congratulatory7 addresses. The Prussian representatives took seats at the Peace Conference. On the tenth meeting, it is understood the business of Conference was closed. A committee of one representative from each power, was engaged in drawing up a formal treaty of peace. The eleventh sitting of the Conference was expected to be held on Saturday. Advices from Constantinople say that Omar Pacha had arrived. There had been great mortality among the French troops in the Crimea. The fortifications of Nieo laieff were being strengthened. Gen. Luders had ordered all Russian oineers on turlougn to return, ine news of an armistie had produced profound sen sations of joy with the armies on the shores of the Aiolf. Business became suddenly active. The Imperial Foundry on the left bank of the Danube was closed, thereby indica ting the intention of the llussian Authori ties to abandon their maritime establish ments cn the Black Sea. Cadringtoa had issued orders forbidding any firing upon the enemy until the expira tion of the Armistice. A report from the Crimea says that two divisions of the British army under Sir Colin Campbell had preceded to Canada. The latest states that Generals Raudon, Canrobert, and Bosquet, had been made Marshals of France. A despatch from Hamburg, dated Thursday, states that the English frigate Anphkn had gone ashore in the Belt. ' .She was L'Ot off. and had arrived at Kiel. ! New YoitK April 5. y the arrival of bark Venus, from Curacoa, we have re ceived advices from Venezuela to March 20. In consequence of a 'serious destruction of property belonging to the Dutch, resi dents at A'ille de Coro, by the inhabitants of Coro, some six months back, the Dutch aval West India fleet wre at present at Lntruvra, to claim restitution for the above damages. On the sailing of the Venus, they had not come to terms. In the event of Venezuela not satisfying the above claims, the Dutch Commodore has positive orders to blockade the Venezuelan ports and declare war, in which case there will be no more shipments of produce from the main. The issue is doubtful. New York, April 5. By the arrival of the steamer Dlack Warrior, we have ad vices from Havana to the 31st ultimo. The city was quiet and healthy. The American war vessels nt that port had left for Matanzas. The clipper ship Sea Witch, from China, freighted with Coolies, went ashore on the 28th, near Havana, and is a total loss. Several Spanish steamers went to her assistance and succeeded in taking off the passengers and yew with safety. Doctors Ly the Wholesale. Richardson, daugh ter of Mr. Redden Richardson, of Johnston County, X. C. In Franklin County, on the IGth of March, by Wm. Stone, Esq., Mr. Irvin Wilder, of Xasli County, to MissDelania Gay, daughter of Sherwood Gay. DEATHS. At her residence in Wayne county, on Monday the 24th March, Mrs. Mary Starling, aged about SO years. The deceased was for many years pre ceding her death, a consistent member of the M. E. Church; and is gone to reap the reward of a life of usefulness, in a land of spirits, where the righteous cease from troubling, and tho weary are at rest, G. On the morning of the 22d of March at 4: o'clock, Col. J. B. Lindcy, of Currituck county, X. C. aged 43 years, four months and six days. Mrs. Xancy Tinnington Hester, died in Weakly county, Tenn., on the 2Gth of Feb. in the full triumph of faith. She was the youngest daughter of George L. and Gilly Xlston, and was born near Soapstone, iu Wake county, X". C, on the 7ih Xovember, 1815. At the age of sixteen she was convert ed, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, in the fellowship of which she died. On the 10th Xovember, 1343, she was mar ried to Mr. W. II. Hester, of Granville, where she resided until the fall of 1851, when she removed to Tennessee. She was blessed with a fine mind, and improved bv cultivation. She was unassuming, but firm j and consistent in her piety. Her life exem plified the Gospel, and spread the sunshine of her influence around her. As a wife, a mother, a friend, her worth was inestimable. Her illness was short and severe, during which she manifested patience and cheerful resignation. Just before she died, her stren.th seemed to be renewed, and she ut tered words, the remembrance of which cheers the bereaved ones left in her desolate home. She said to her weeping husband : "Why do you grieve ? Can you not trust in Jesus ?" She called her children around her, six little toys, the oldest eleven, and the youngest but two years old. She told them 6he was going to die and go to Heaven, and asked them if they did not want to go with her. She charged them to be good boys, and meet her there. Soon after this, she died without a struggle or a groan. Her life was devoted to God, her end was peace, and her reward is Heaven, whither she was wel comed by many of her kindred who had passed over before her. He in whom she trusted will bless the bereaved ones, who cherish her memory as a light on their way to the pilgrim's rest. II. In X'ash County, on the 29th of March, Mr. Jackson Hendriek, son of John H. Hen drick, in the 21st year of his age. In Xash County, on the 17th of March, Mr. Wm. Savage, in the 60th year of his age, leaving a disconsolate wife and nine chil dren to mourn cr.eir irreparable loss. In Xash count v, on the morning of the 24th ult., Mrs. Julia Bass, aged 37 years, wife of Augustin .Bass, who departed this life on the 8tii inst. In the death of this truly pious and respectable lady, society has lost one of its brightest jewels ; she was possessed of a mild and benevolent disposition which always prompted her to assist those who were in any manner distressed. She -was charitable to the poor, to the motherless a mother, and to all mankind a friend.
