The subject was the "Mission of College Men in North Carolina," and it was handled in a masterly manner. A canning factory has been organic zed in Winston with a capital paid in of $10,000 The outlook for a fine business is good. Why we cannot have ouch an industry in Raleigh is beyond our eciu prehension. Surely our financial elf . &s thould put their shoulders to the wheel in such enter prises. The returns are sure. The North Carolina Teacher for May is a number of unusual interest, containing much of educational value It has a fine cut of Hon. John C Scarborough, the democratic can d;dab for Superintendent of Public Instruction. We hear commendations on all sides for Mr. A. Dnghi at the admirable manner in which he managed mat ters in his line connected with the concert, banquet and other exercises at St. Mary's school. Mr. Dughi al ways performs his duty to the entire s itisfaotion of all who secure his ser vices, and we know that his services at St. Mary's are very highly appreci ated by Re.
