A man w'ho has a scolding wife may not always be a gardener, but usually keeps a hot house. May seemed to be in rather a bad humor yesterday. ’We can’t tell whicli w’e admired most her smiles or her tears. Don’t put too much confidence in these sunny days, for though.they seem as harmless as the little lamb of the household, pneumonia is lurking around. Hold fast to your overcoats. A very pretty Sunday-school song is the one entitled, “Put youraraicur on, my boys.” W’e know a young lady who doe.sn’t like to hear it. She says it sounds like “Put your arm around me, boys.” Her objection was evidently to the plural —“boys.” We heard a lady of color repre- mand her son, on Sunday last, as fol lows ; “ Now, John Henry Josephus Agustus Lincoln Grant, you jes’ cum an’ put on your shoes dis minit. De idea of you b.in’ out door^, barefoot, on de Lord’s day ! Why, folk’ will think you’s Irish.” Wejinderstand she had been bap tised the Sunday before. There is an elderly man in this town who growls^continually about the quantity of reading matter the Clarion contains, and was also heartl to say that he would not give a cent for dozen copies. Now we would like to konw,_if it is so worth less, why it is he goes to a certain store in town to read it? If there is anything we do dislike it is to hear a man run a newspaper down, and then deliberately borrow it^^ from another man to read. It is" com- tempible to say the lerst of it. Married.—Our townsman, Mr. Henry Ikyan, w'as last Tuesday unit ed in matrimony to Miss Ellen I). Cooper, at her residence ue-r this place. Rev. D. E. Jordan ofticiat- ing. The Clarion wishes tiiem a long and happy lile.
